After extensive studies at various German universities, Gerhard Uhlig (Leipzig 1924-2015 Münster) first worked as an art teacher and later as a commissioner for art education at the district president in Münster. From abstract modernism, he developed his own broadly based graphic and painterly formal language, which can be attributed to a variety of styles and is linked to both concrete art and OP art. They show his complex approach, which is also reflected in his art didactic writings. His work reflects the constant search for new perceptions and, consequently, newly formulated design.
The catalogue is published to accompany the exhibition at Museum Haus Opherdicke in Holzwickede (24.09.2023 - 25.02.2024).
