The publication presents sculptures, videos, canvases and carpets by Halil Altındere and is published on the occasion of his solo exhibition at the Pilot Gallery in Istanbul (23.11.2023 - 20.01.2024).
Halil Altındere (*1971 in Mardin/Turkey, lives and works in Istanbul) often deals with concrete political content in his works, also with reference to his Kurdish roots and multiculturalism in Turkish society. In his works, he deals with a variety of issues and highlights methods of resistance against power and oppression, exploring themes such as subcultures, gender roles, pop culture or the structure and power of art and financial systems.
The publication brings together works from the last three years in which the boundaries between art and life have become increasingly blurred. The consequences of the pandemic that shook the world are echoed in his works, as is the artist's new role as a father. In addition, Altındere increasingly makes use of the possibilities of artificial intelligence and uses AI technology as a kind of personal assistant that takes an active role in the production process of his works.
