This book is the first to offer insights into ongoing research and work projects of faculty members of the Department of Art at TU Dortmund: Patrick Borchers, Jette Flügge, Timo Klos, Ulvis Müller, and Maik Ronz.
The five disciplines they teach – drawing and graphic art, multimedia art and photography, painting, as well as sculpture – interact in multiple ways, exposing synergies and contrasts both in terms of content and technique. Their artistic interventions question and modify the relationship between people and space, exemplifying and delving deep into the issues addressed in class. The book shows what it means to produce art in the context of academic culture, resulting from direct engagement with each other and with students of fine art at TU Dortmund, both visually and through debate: fostering exchange and consistently treating research as an integral part of teaching, and vice versa.
