Marina Sailer's painting revels in strong, nuanced colors, with which she creates neo-baroque, fantastic spatial stagings. Born in Vitebsk (Belarus), the artist, who lives in Düsseldorf after studying in Karlsruhe and Düsseldorf, brings together beings and objects in whimsical combinations in her paintings: In front of sparkling chandeliers, reflecting glass and lush tendril patterns, fish, butterflies or even elf creatures float by in morbid palaces as if in dreams. The fairy-tale-like, mysterious images thus transport the viewer into a surreal fantasy world in which the real and the fictional merge.
