Music and sound, social references, everyday objects and abstract ornaments are all combined in the art of Nevin Aladağ. This postcard book is published to accompany her exhibition Jamming at the Schwartzsche Villa in Berlin. Here her eponymous video installation from 2022 celebrates its German debut.
With Jamming, Aladağ presents a portrait of Berlin that unites music and film. In a humorous and ironic way, she interweaves the sounds of various musical instruments (such as a headless tambourine, tambourine, clarinet, or trombone). The result is a cinematic homage to both East and West Berlin set in the district of Mitte, her place of residence.
In addition to this piece, works from the series Social Fabric, Pattern Kinship, and Color Floating are showcased, in which Aladağ explores questions of self-determination, identity, and social and cultural community.
