  • A cross-disciplinary performance
  • Examines the fragile line between the public and private realm
  • A project developed for the Kunstverein Ruhr

SEE! is made up of the choreographers/artists SE Struck and Alexandra Knieps who collaborate with a permanent team of musicians, dancers, and artists from other disciplines. Together, they form a group that occupies spaces by staging performances and live installations. The scenarios developed by the group are exclusively tailored to each location: they are performative action, precise choreography, and sculptural installation at the same time.
The book documents a work created by SEE! for the Kunstverein Ruhr. For this project, the group covered the floor and walls of the Kunstverein with an indigo blue carpet. Four artists of different ages and backgrounds then performed in this setting. The spectators watched what was happening from the street, maintaining a distance, as a showroom window separated them from the performers.
With their work, SEE! impressively explored the fragile line between the public and private realm, between active performance and passive consumption, and – ultimately – between art and everyday life.
